优秀青年科学基金项目(海外)旨在吸引和鼓励在自然科学、工程技术等方面已取得较好成绩的海外优秀青年学者(含非华裔外籍人才)回国(来华)工作,自主选择研究方向开展创新性研究。

项目批复后,国家自然科学基金委和华中科技大学会给予充足的科研经费支持。学校会提供具有国际竞争力的薪酬福利,并按照学校政策提供包括安家费与住房补贴、子女教育、医疗保障、协助安排配偶工作等在内的相关配套资源。

学院现有教职工180余人,其中中国科学院院士2人,各类国家高层次人才40余人。学院自2008年成立以来,从海内外引进高水平教师100余人。在成立的近15年间,学院共获国家各类基金300余项,到账经费约16亿元。2015年起,学院牵头建设精密重力测量国家重大科技基础设施,这是“十二五”期间国家优先支持的16项重大科技基础设施建设项目之一。学院在凝练精密测量物理、光学与原子分子物理、凝聚态物理、理论物理4个主要学科方向的基础上,不断谋划新的学科增长点。2019年,成立了交叉学科中心;2020年,创办了华中地区第一个天文学系;2021年,发起成立华中科技大学量子科学与工程研究院。

学院发展至今取得一系列高水平研究成果:“测得迄今最高精度的引力常数G值”荣获2018年度中国科学十大进展,并被写入中学教科书;参与完成人类第一张黑洞照片制作,获2019年度基础物理学突破奖;2021年初研制并交付我国首台高精度量子重力仪;在超快光学、原子分子物理、量子光学、量子物态与器件和理论物理等方向也持续涌现高水平成果。

Abou the Fund

NSFC Excellent Young Scholars Fund (Overseas) aimed at attract and encourage outstanding young overseas scholars (including non-Chinese foreign talents) who have achieved good accomplishment in natural science and engineering technology, etc. to return (come) and work in China and choose research directions independently and carry out innovative research.

After the approval of the fund, both NSFC and HUST will provide research funds and HUST will also provide highly competitive remuneration packages and relevant supporting resources including house subsidy, employment of spouse, children's education, medical insurance, etc.

Research Areas

HUST Physics is seeking excellent young scientists in the following areas: Precision Measurement, Quantum Science, Astronomy, AMO, Condensed-Matter Physics, Theoretical Physics, Biophysics, Geophysics, etc.

About HUST Physics

Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is a comprehensive research university located in Wuhan, China.It has consistently ranked among the top 10 universities in China in the major domestic and international rankings, including the Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities and US News and World Report Best Global Universities Ranking.

HUST has three affiliated National Laboratories: the National Precision Gravitational Measurement Facility(PGMF), the Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center(WHMFC), and the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics(WNLO). These facilities strongly support the development of the School of Physics.

The School of Physics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology is among the fastest-developing physics departments in the world. Started in 1983 as a small department, now its discipline ranked the 7th (tied) among Chinese universitiesin the last round discipline evaluation.

HUST Physics now consists of more than 180 tenured and tenure-track members, with 64 professors and 73 associate professors, many among them with honorable records: 2 members of the Chinese Academy of Science, more than 40 selected into national high-level talents programs. Since 2008, the school has introduced more than 100 outstanding scholars from home and abroad.

During the past 15 years, the school of physics was awarded more than 300 national research grants(~1.6billion RMB). On the basic of four main discipline directions: precision measurement, AMO, condensed-matter physics and theoretical physics, the school of physics constantly seeks new directions for discipline development. Since 2015, HUST Physics has taken the lead in the construction of the National Precise Gravitation Measurement Facility, which is one of 16 major science and technology infrastructure projects during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. In 2019, the interdisciplinary center was established. In 2020, the first Department of Astronomy in central China was established. In 2021, the Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering was officially launched, which was also led by the School of Physics.

Since its development, the school hasobtained series of representative achievements in kinds of research areas.“The most accurate gravitational constant G around the world” measured by the team from the gravitational experiments center has been listed in 2018 top 10 Chinese technological advancements. The group from astronomy department has participated in the project of “World’s First Photo of a Black Hole”, which was awarded 2019 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. In 2021, The first practical high-precision rubidium atom absolute gravimeter was developed and recently delivered to the Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration. Numbers of high-level achievements were also constantly emerging in the areas of ultrafast-optics, atomic and molecular physics, quantum optics, quantum states and devices, theoretical physics, biophysics and geophysics etc.
